What are the differences between an accountant, a CPA and a bookkeeper?

Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Bookkepers and Accountants all work with business financial data.

 - Bookkepers keep a detailed record of business transactions

 - Accountants are able to provide a more precise analysis for the business

 - CPA or chartered public accountants are accountants with a license

How long should I keep my tax records for?

It is advised to keep your tax returns with all supporting documents for six (6) years after filing in case CRA selects your return for review.

What is a Notice of Reassessment?

A Notice of Reassessment comes in a form of a letter to individuals when CRA is asking for more information about a specific income tax return filed within the past three years. CRA selection is random and it has been noted that 1-in-4 individuals are chosen for review.
